Issues/Discussions/Actions:
October Bin Items
Review Agenda Items:
- Minutes approved for September
- NWCG Web-portal
- Elaine informed everyone with the progress of the Web-portal
and gave a brief demonstration of what each page will
contain and what information can be shared on the main
screen, the portlets and links from within each portlet.
- The process of building each page is coming along on
schedule with live web to be accessible by the November,
2011.
- IFPC has decided to have their own process of an “edit
tree”. This will help with edits of notes, documents
for committee members to review, & add suggestions,
pass to the next committee member and so on for final
approval.
- As a committee, it was discussed on how the layout
of the IFPC Committee Page would be titled and the layout
of main page, portlets and links within each portlet.
- Please review the mission statement Tate passed out
for potential use on the committee home page. Share thoughts
following the edit tree, and have changes, edits, and
suggestions back to Tate for his meeting with Elaine on
Nov. 2, 2011 at 1:00 pm to propose and set up first draft
of the IFPC page/site.
- Further instruction on maintaining website, how to
read, edit, & attach documents, policies, etc will
be ongoing throughout the training period.
- Learning Pathways
- Jeff and Tate have edits made and copies were sent
to committee for suggestions, edits and or changes.
- The draft paper was agreed to be in sufficient shape
to share more widely among regional and field planners,
and other resource disciplines. The purpose will be to
present the concept developed so far, and get feedback
as to whether the approach meets needs and expectations
of field personnel.
- Tate will present to BLM Regional Planning Meeting
later this month. Jeff will present to NPS planners at
end of month. Other agencies are encouraged to do the
same.
- We will work with Mary to develop a webinar to present
(three times) to the wider group contacted during the
needs assessment.
- After receiving feedback, IFPC will consider whether
adjustments will be needed to the concept, then begin
to work towards a more detailed work plan to begin development
and implementation.
- All presentations should also include an opportunity
to identify folks interested in further development work.
- Next Steps:
- Plan and implement field briefings to generate
feedback and validation
- Share with agency folks
- Capture discussion & response on approach
/ details.
- Work with Mary on webinar
- Begin detailed project planning
- Recruit and list people interested in assisting,
When responses are in, assign specific tasks for
those individuals to work on with early course
direction, edits etc.
- COFMS – “Virtual Field Trip”
- Only one person responded to Tate’s request for
input so far. Tate will send another request again and
follow up with some phone calls.
- Smoke Management Guide Planning Chapter
- Jeff and Tate have combined their edits to the first
rough draft of the document. This first draft has a few
more detailed tweaks to be made before it is sent out
to the committee for their input, suggestions, thoughts,
and changes for the final rough draft copy. A date and
time will be decided on and sent to committee members
to work on final edits in real time. Jeff will send pre-draft
prior to mid-November. First draft due to Mark Fitch on
December 1, 2011.
- BIN
- Jeff will contact Merry Johnson about self assessment
software.
- Need to determine next IFPC monthly meeting date
- Updates
- SWT: October SWT Update:
- Membership is at 10 folks with Bill Johnson leaving
the team for his new job with the project.
- Face-to-face meeting week of Oct 17th in Ft Collins
went well with several key tasks completed.
- GA kickoff briefings to start the engagement for
the 2012 submission started this week (10/24) and
5 of 8 were completed. Working with the GA to line
out how to start the FPU engagement.
- OG has asked me to speak about the future of the
SWT and the team feels it needs to continue at least
short term. Configuration will depend on the depth
of the analysis needed and the amount of data that
needs to be updated. Training will be needed if the
field is expected to update data and complete the
analysis for themselves.
- Cohesive Strategy:
- Becky held a discussion on Cohesive Strategy and Planning
implications.

November 1-3: BIA Planning Mtg.
November 3: FPA UMAP Call
