Request for Change Instructions

[print file]

Process:

Entities wishing to suggest a new NWCG training course, changes to position qualifications, changes to operational policy, or to request a new NWCG position must submit a request for change to the Operations and Workforce Development Committee. NWCG training course change requests and course evaluations should be sent to either the NWCG Training Development Unit or NAFRI.

Change requests will only be accepted from Geographic Area Coordinating Groups (GACG’s), GATRs, member agencies, NWCG committees, NMAC, and the NWCG Training Development Unit.

All change requests must come through one of the Operations & Workforce Development Committee members. Each committee member is expected to seek input from their respective agency and/or GACG prior to submitting the request to the entire committee to ensure the change request is interagency in scope and meets an identified need of the agency or GACG.

Change requests will typically be taken up at the next scheduled OWDC meeting. A decision may or may not be made at that time. Some decisions require coordination with other NWCG committees/groups.

Anyone wishing to make a presentation to the OWDC will be asked to provide a short description of their presentation for the agenda, as well as the amount of time they will need, including Q & A time, and what the desired outcome of their presentation is (information or decision)

Once a decision has been reached, the committee will inform the entity making the request of the decision.

Form Instructions:

  1. Entity Requesting: Indicate the Agency requesting the change
  2. Entity Representative Contact Information: Please provide the name, home unit, telephone number, and email address of the person initiating the change request so that the committee may make contact for additional information, if necessary.
  3. Description of the Proposal: Briefly describe the proposed change in sufficient detail that the committee can understand it. You will be asked for more detailed information for changes to NWCG Position on the Position Change Proposal Worksheet; for major changes to training courses, additional information will be provided on the Training Change Worksheet.
  4. Description of the Issue: Describe the issue your proposal is intended to address or solve. Provide the background of how the issue came up.
  5. Reason for the Change: Why is the change being requested? What problem is it expected to solve. What are the expected outcomes? What safety considerations, if any, will the change address? What cost savings, if any, will it produce?
  6. Systems Affected by the Change: What ICS function, training curriculum, operation, IT equipment or function, or financial concerns does the requested change address?
