Re: Certification of S-290, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior, Online Course

The Operations and Workforce Development Committee (OWDC), in conjunction with the Fire Behavior Sub-Committee under the Fire Environment Committee, determined that the S-290 online course developed as a joint effort between NWCG and the National Weather Service will be certified as a NWCG course. Either course can be used to achieve completion of the S-290 course requirement. The online version of the course, created by COMET, is available at http://www.meted.ucar.edu/topics_fire.php. There will be an option at the end of the course to print out an NWCG course certificate.
