Agenda Topics:

 

  • Fire Training Certification  –  

Discussion with Russ Babiak on the Federal Wildland Fire Qualification Supplement and the federal training leads needing to be advised when subcommittees make changes to position requirement and training.  Joel will write a tasking and will send to NIAC to review by Friday, October 24th.

 

  • Status of MTDNRC  –

Technical data will hopefully be received by the first of the year.  Once the data is received, a policy can be made concerning fleet average vs minimum specifications.    

 

  • Propose UAS Fire Working Group Chartered Under NIAC  –  

Joel will draft a charter and intent for an Interagency Unmanned Aircraft Systems Subcommittee and will send to NIAC for review.

 

  • IASS and IA SG Discussion –

Joel will draft a letter to IASS informing them that NIAC will anticipate a new IAS Guide in 2016 instead of 2015. 

 

  • NIAC Strategy Update –

Rusty will be attending a meeting in Boise to discuss the items to be addressed from GAO.

 

  • NPS/Cal Fire Accident Update –

The investigation team determined the cause of the crash occurred due to the plane striking a tree while delivering retardant. 

 

  • Other Issues/Topics –
    • LC handbook is being updated and currently with the Forest Service for review.
