Field Level Offices
to Support the Statusing of AD Resources for Interagency National Response. |
| The
national wildland fire situation has continued to get more difficult and
complex over the past decade. Each year the wildland fire agencies are
challenged to mobilize sufficient firefighting resources to meet national
response needs. The National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) and National
Multi-Agency Coordinating Group (NMAC) encourage field offices of all
agencies to support statusing of qualified local Administratively Determined
(AD) and supplemental resources to support the national wildland fire
response effort.
Both NWCG and NMAC
understand that the effort to status AD and supplemental resources is
a burden on dispatch centers and local fire personnel. Some field offices
only status sufficient resources to meet the anticipated local need as
a result of this workload. However, it is extremely important that local
units support the national need by finding qualified resources and helping
to status them in ROSS for national mobilization. It is equally important
for dispatch centers to support the mobilization of local resources by
arranging travel for personnel and transportation of equipment as necessary.
Wildfire suppression
and mobilization is an interagency effort, and we all depend on each other
to meet our mission. Having sufficient available resources to meet the
local and national response is vital to our success. Your efforts to support
national requirements by finding qualified resources and ensuring they
are statused for national mobilization is greatly appreciated and critical
for meeting the increasing interagency challenges of wildland fire management.
