NWCG Coordination Process and New Liaison List

Historically, members of the NWCG Executive Board have been assigned and acted as a liaison to each NWCG subgroup. The recent scope increase of NWCG has expanded the number of subgroups under the NWCG organization to include all those subgroups that were formerly under NFAEB. The realignment of the NWCG substructure and establishment of the Branch Coordinator positions was premised on providing enhanced programmatic efficiencies including increased capability to provide direct support to subgroups, and reducing the workload on the Executive Board and subgroup Chairs. With the forward movement of NWCG’s restructuring effort, Branch Coordinators are now in place. Effective immediately, Branch Coordinators have been charged by the Executive Board to provide the first level liaison functionality to subgroups.

For each existing and future subgroup, the liaison role of the Branch Coordinator is to:

  • Receive taskings for the subgroup from the Executive Board.
  • Provide assistance to the subgroup for Executive Board reviews.
  • Review and receive correspondence between the Executive Board and the subgroup.
  • Participate in at least one Committee subgroup meeting per year.
  • Provide advice for subgroup budgets, projects, and strategic planning.
  • Keep the subgroup informed of Executive Board deliberations and direction.

Each Branch Coordinator attends all Executive Board meetings and works closely with their assigned Executive Board liaisons. Each Branch has also been assigned a primary and a secondary NWCG Executive Board liaison to help facilitate the business of the NWCG. This restructuring is not intended to constrain the ability of subgroup chairs to communicate directly with NWCG Executive Board members when necessary. Branch Coordinators should be looked upon as advocates for the subgroups under this new NWCG structure.

Please review the attached list to familiarize yourself with the liaison changes, and begin using your respective Branch Coordinator as the primary conduit between your group and the Executive Board. Contact your Branch Coordinator if you have questions or desire additional information.
