National Association of
State Foresters The National Association of State Foresters (NASF) is a national non-profit organization that represents the directors of the State Forestry agencies from all 50 States, five of the U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. The State Foresters are responsible for providing management and protection services on over two thirds of the Nation's forests. State Foresters provide landowners with help managing their forests; small woodland owners own almost 60 percent of the Nation's forests, and supply about half of the Nation's timber supply. Private woodlands also provide important places for wildlife, clean water, and other things the public expects from forests. NASF also protects forests from harmful insects, diseases, and wildfire. The members of NASF deliver these programs in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service.
