Glossary
Architecture - A framework for classifying and organizing information. Viewing the framework reveals relationships between cataloged information. Blueprint - Describes the current enterprise-wide business processes, information requirements, applications, and technology as well as the future desired state and a plan to move from the current state to the future state. Capability - The combination of a business process, governance and resource required to produce a specific business service or product. Enterprise - The people, organizations, processes, and technology that coordinate functions and share information to support a defined common scope and mission. Enterprise
Architecture (EA) - A framework that defines
the business, the information needed to operate the
business, the technologies that support business operations,
and the transitional processes to respond to changing
business needs. It provides a holistic view of an organization,
and tracks connections between business and management
processes and information technology. Information Technology or IT - A collection of hardware, software, and services operated to accomplish a business function. Methodology - A documented approach for performing activities in a coherent, consistent, accountable, and repeatable manner. (A method) Model - A simulation that attempts to describe characteristics of relationships; often portrayed by schematic drawings. Repository - A web-based storehouse used to store and access architectural information, relationships between the information elements, and work products. Wildland fire community - The agencies having jurisdictional responsibility for fire management on public lands. The community includes federal agencies as well as state and local agencies. Wildland fire enterprise - The organizations that work together to coordinate their processes and technology to support wildland fire management.
