Wildland and Prescribed Fire Qualification System Guide. PMS 310-1
State feedback on the proposed fitness Levels for Ignition Specialist and Prescribed Fire Burn Boss:
Ignition Specialist - arduous
Prescribed Fire Burn Boss 1 (RXB1) - light
Prescribed Fire Burn Boss 2 (RXB2) - moderate
The states were generally ambivalent to the proposed change.  Many states have not established a physical fitness standard for the positions and those that have established a physical fitness standard are comfortable with their current standard.
ACTION - The Team state representatives will gather additional information and a final decision will be made at the Team's November meeting.
How much involvement does your agency have with federal prescribed fire?
When participating do state personnel frequently serve in the above positions, or primarily as support units for holding the burn within the prescription?
