Mission Statement

The Data Strategy Implementation Subcommittee (DSIS) provides national leadership for the implementation of the NWCG Data Management Strategy. The subcommittee supports implementation of the strategy by matching the strategy goals with business solutions.

  • Identify opportunities to standardize data across lines of business. Empower stewards of high-value datasets with practical tools that enable them to support data standardization efforts.
  • Support data lifecycle management by establishing comprehensive procedures and practices that enable consistent data management from creation and operational use to archiving for planning and research.
  • Work across the enterprise to develop data quality assurance and quality control processes that actively improve the currency, utility, and longevity of wildland fire data. Develop and implement data management practices that enable data stewards to meet established data quality standards.
  • Establish data management practices that enable data managers to continuously assess, evaluate, and address issues related to data quality, data exchange, and data effectiveness in supporting business needs.
