COVID-19 Response

Mission Statement

The National Interagency Aviation Committee (NIAC) has created a task team to help address interagency fire aviation standards, procedures, and preparedness activities for the 2020 fire year in response to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. This task team consists of experts from the Interagency wildland fire aviation and medical fields.  This group will discuss national standards of operations that mitigates or lessens the potential infection or spread of COVID-19 to and within flight crews and aviation personnel for fire season 2020.  In conjunction with already existing information and direction from Federal and State agencies, they will provide specific aviation related guidelines, best practices, and measures to be taken  at all locations environments throughout the United States.  These guidelines will be posted on the National Wildfire Coordinating Group website as well as being disseminated through the Interagency community via Area Command Teams and the National Multi-Agency Coordinating Group.
