Fall Off Rules

National Incident Feature Services (NIFS) data in the /GISS/Event_GISSEdit feature service that are not receiving routine updates "fall off" the service and are no longer displayed. Updates can be either in the form of edited records in the service or activity in the Integrated Reporting of Wildland-Fire Information (IRWIN) database. This is done for performance reasons to reduce drawing time and simplify the end user experience.

All GIS Records with the same IRWINID should be treated as a group and the most recent date among them used for data-age queries. The process will be run twice weekly.

Data that meets the queries below will be moved to Archive:

  1. GIS Records with an IRWINID
    1. With Controlled and/or Contained Date in IRWIN:
      1. IF IRWIN controlled and contained dates are greater than 30 days AND EditDate is greater than 30 days.
      2. THEN move all features with IRWINID to Archive at the same time to ensure same GDB_TO_DATE field.
    2. No Controlled or Contained Date in IRWIN:
      1. IF EditDate is greater than 60 days.
      2. THEN move all features with IRWINID to Archive at the same time to ensure same GDB_TO_DATE field.
  2. GIS Records with an invalid IRWINID
    1. Notify wildfireresponse@firenet.gov when these records are encountered. Provide IRWINID being used and ObjectID in email.
  3. GIS Records without an IRWINID
    1. IF DateCurrent is greater than 30 days.
    2. THEN move features to Archive.
  4. GIS Records Autogenerated for INFORM (triangles)
    1. IF MapMethod=Autogenerated AND CreateDate is greater than 14 days AND DateCurrent is NULL.
    2. THEN move feature to Archive.
  5. GIS Records with IRWINID in Event Polygon Feature Class (InFORM requirement for Final Fire Perimeter feature class)
    1. IF Event Polygon = Daily Fire Perimeter AND IRWIN record is unedited in 21 days.
    2. THEN copy the most current Daily Fire Perimeter (and associated parts) to Final Fire Perimeter Feature class.
