Instructor-led Description

This is a classroom course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of duties associated with the single resource boss position from initial dispatch through demobilization to the home unit. Topics include operational leadership, preparation and mobilization, assignment preparation, risk management, entrapment avoidance, safety and tactics, offline duties, demobilization, and post-incident responsibilities.

Blended Description

This course was developed using a blended approach to learning. Students are required to complete the online training portion of the course and pass an online assessment prior to taking the instructor-led training (ILT). The focus of the online training is to teach knowledge and concepts. The ILT will reinforce the content learned online and provide opportunities to apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios and practical exercises. Upon completion of the ILT, students must then take and pass a final assessment in order to receive credit for the course. The final assessment covers content from both the online and ILT portions of the course.

Note: Instructors must order specific course materials for the classroom/instructor-led portion of the blended course. Reference the NFES Catalog Part 2: Publications, PMS 449-2 for ordering information.
