General Information

The Course Coordinator’s Guide, PMS 907, and Field Managers Course Guide, PMS 901-1, contain general information for presentation of NWCG courses. The course coordinator and instructors should be thoroughly familiar with these guides.

Coordination

Level

S-260 is categorized as an entry-level skills development course, and is suitable for local-area organization delivery.

If you have questions about course administration, contact your local Training Officer or Geographic Area Training Representative for more information.

Instructor Criteria for S-260

There are no minimum incident position qualifications to be an instructors for S-260.

Lead Instructors are required to have accepted formal instructional training (i.e., state fire training certificate, college teacher’s credential, college education courses, or M-410, Facilitative Instructor) AND 80 hours of successful fire service instruction.

Recommended Class Size

There is no recommended class size for S-260.

Ordering Material

There is no S-260 course material available in the NWCG National Fire Equipment System (NFES) Catalog. Refer to the S-260 Instructor-Led Materials sub-page for information on material that is available online.

Additional material

WFSTAR 2023 Year in Review and 2024 Core Component Module Packages Available

The 2023 Fire Year in Review module and 2024 Core Component Module Packages for RT-130, Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) are now available on the NWCG website. The 2024 Core Component Module Package provides all content needed to deliver RT-130.
