Mission Statement
The M-580 Fire in Ecosystem Management Course Steering Committee (M580CSC) provides national leadership in management of the M-580 training course.
Primary Objectives
- Develop and maintain the M-580 training course for natural resource managers, fire managers and agency administrators who would benefit from a land management perspective to focus on wildland fire science, fire ecology, and the implications of various fire management strategies and practices to restore and enhance natural resource conservation.
- Evaluate the complexity and benefits of integrating fire and landscape management with social, political, legal, economic, and environmental factors.
- Coordinate with the Fuels Management Committee to ensure alignment with other relevant courses, elite course content and provide for a progressive learning experience.
- Coordinate course delivery with the National Advanced Fire Resource Institute.
