Mission Statement

The S-590 Advanced Fire Behavior Interpretations Course Steering Committee (S590CSC) provides national leadership in management of the S-590 training course.

  • Develop and maintain the S-590 training course based on the advanced fire behavior standards, and the related FBAN & LTAN Incident Position Descriptions (IPD) elements.
  • Provide input on the advanced fire behavior standards and the FBAN & LTAN IPDs to the Fire Behavior Subcommittee.
  • Assist with the development of job aids and other position performance support tools.
  • Coordinate course delivery with National Advanced Fire Resource Institute (NAFRI, which provides the S-590 Course Coordinator who co-chairs the course steering committee).
