Area Commander

ACDR decorative banner: photos depicting ACDR position. ACDR Position Description: Area Command (ACDR) is an expansion of the incident command function. It is designed to manage a very large incident that has multiple IMTs assigned. These teams may be established any time the incidents are close enough that oversight direction is required. This is to ensure that resource allocation conflicts do not arise among the IMTs.

Required Training

Required Experience

  • Satisfactory performance as an Assistant Area Commander Planning (ACPC)
  • AND Completion and Certification of NWCG Area Commander (ACDR) Position Task Book, PMS 311-80

OR

  • Satisfactory performance as an Assistant Area Commander Logistics (ACLC)
  • AND Completion and Certification of NWCG Area Commander (ACDR) Position Task Book, PMS 311-80

OR

  • Satisfactory performance as an Incident Commander Type 1 (ICT1) on a National Type 1 Incident Management Team
  • AND Completion and Certification of NWCG Area Commander (ACDR) Position Task Book, PMS 311-80

Physical Fitness Level: None Required

Position does not require a physical fitness level.

  • Assistant Area Commander Logistics (ACLC)
  • Assistant Area Commander Planning (ACPC)
  • Incident Commander Complex (ICCI)
  • Incident Commander Type 1 (ICT1)
