The Fuels Management Committee (FMC) provides national leadership to unite the NWCG member agency wildland fuels management programs under the common purpose of reducing risks of wildfire to communities while improving and maintaining ecosystem health.
- Enable coordinated and effective national interagency wildland fuels management.
- Reduce the risk of negative impacts from wildfire on human populations, natural resources, and other assets.
- Maintain and restore healthy vegetative communities through management actions and provide for the use of wildland fire as a tool to achieve natural resource objectives.
- Establish and regularly update wildland fire position and qualification standards related to assigned positions. This includes position descriptions and position requirements for training, experience, physical fitness, and position currency.
