Mission Statement:

The Interagency Water Scooper Subcommittee (IWSS) provides national leadership in water scooping operations. The IWSS identifies and develops standards for water scooping operations on an interagency basis.

The standards include but are not limited to, water source selection, scoop site operations, and hosting unit responsibilities. Aircraft include all amphibious water scooping aircraft regardless of aircraft size or type (Fire Boss, CL-215T, CL-415).

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance regarding water scooping operations.
  • Promote cooperation and standardization in interagency water scooping operations.
  • Identify issues, develop solutions, and recommend corrective actions to the National Interagency Aviation Committee (NIAC) pertaining to water scooping operations.
  • Ensure that standards are consistent with interagency and vendor procedures, practices, and expectations.
