A plan required for each fire application ignited by management. Plans are documents prepared by qualified personnel, approved by the agency administrator, and include criteria for the conditions under which the fire will be conducted (a prescription).

Fire originating in and burning any part or all of any building, shelter, or other structure.

A special weather forecast for a specific incident prepared by a meteorologist on site at or near the incident area.

A special fire weather forecast for a specific fire prepared by a meteorologist on site at or near the fire area.

A safety alert addressing wildland fire safety information that isn't related to imminent or potential threats of injury.

A warning or alert concerning critical information relating to firefighter safety, that is distributed via email through an NWCG mail server. There are three types of alerts: Safety Warning, Safety Advisory, and Safety Bulletin.

A general alert from an NWCG committee to the wildland fire community regarding the release of subject-specific information such as technical information, equipment updates, accident reports, etc. Depending on the origin and/or the subject content, a green hash-marked bordered stationary may be associated with this type of alert.

A time-sensitive alert to the wildland fire community addressing wildland fire safety hazards that pose an imminent threat, or have potential to pose a threat, to life or property.  Red hash-marked bordered stationary will be associated with this type of alert.

A method used to distribute various types of general or time-sensitive information from an NWCG committee to the wildland fire community. Information may include bulletins, advisories, or safety warnings, each with an associated color hash-marked bordered stationary.

A safety alert containing a factual confirmation of a serious wildland fire accident, incident or fatality.
