Interagency Resource Representative

IARR Position Description: The Interagency Resource Representative (IARR) may be assigned to an incident to serve as the sending area’s representative for crews, overhead, and equipment assigned to an incident. The Interagency Resource Representative is responsible to the home unit to coordinate, through the IMT, the well-being of all resources assigned from the home unit. This position will normally check in with the Planning Section (PSC1/2/3) but is not an incident resource.

The Interagency Resource Representative (IARR) represents their Geographic Area Coordination Center (GACC) and assists Incident Management Teams (IMT) in providing information and assistance to resources during check-in and initial work assignments. The IARR should have daily interaction and communication with the home GACC, area resources, and IMTs. The IARR reports to the GACC Center Manager or designee and works in the Command functional area.

The Forest Service and Department of Interior are enabled by Administratively Determined Pay Plans (AD Pay Plans) to hire persons for temporary duration for the following reasons:

  1. To cope with a sudden and unexpected emergency caused by a fire, or extreme fire potential, flood, storm, or any other all-hazard emergency that threatens damage to federally protected property, has the potential to cause loss of life, serious injury, public health risk, or damage to natural or cultural resources unless brought under immediate control.
  2. To provide emergency assistance to States under formalized agreements.
  3. To meet mission assignments issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Incident Business Committee (IBC) reviews positions annually and establishes pay rate classifications for each position.
