Committee Roles and Membership Information

NWCG accomplishes its mission using a system of committees and subgroups organized around the primary functional areas of wildland fire management. Committee/subgroup members represent their respective agencies/entities and provide the subject matter expertise critical to the NWCG effort. They perform the vital function of participating, engaging, collaborating, and cooperating with other members to develop the interagency standards that are core to the NWCG mission.

NWCG Burn Protocols

The NWCG Burn Protocols provide a Burn Injury Flow Chart, Emergency Department Burn Evaluation Flow Chart and Burn Injury Care Guidelines. These documents were developed for firefighters and fire managers in the field to better assess burn injuries and expediate the injured firefighter to the appropriate level of care.

Publications are distributed through hardcopy print, web pages, mobile device applications, and other digital media. Web portals includes key information that is updated on a continuous schedule.

NWCG Executive Board

The NWCG Executive Board is comprised of appointed representatives from the member entities. The Executive Board provides leadership, strategic direction, and managerial oversight of all aspects of NWCG management and operations. The Executive Board members work in a collective, collaborative, and consensus-seeking manner to accomplish the NWCG mission.

2023 Wildland Fire Leadership Campaign

The theme for the 2023 Wildland Fire Leadership Campaign is “In Service Of Others”. The campaign is an opportunity for personnel at the local level - whether collectively or through self-development - to focus on leadership development activities relating to the national campaign theme. Local units may use any of the information found on the Wildland Fire Leadership Program website or in the Wildland Fire Learning Portal to craft the campaign to fit local needs.

NWCG Training

The program is comprised of employees representing the interests of all NWCG agencies and provides national leadership in the development of the NWCG wildland fire training curriculum. The curriculum for all courses, job-aids, and task books (PTBs) are based on the standards for each position.
